I modified the Chat's dictionary to be instead 15000 phrases from a century-old book and its output is (much) more understandable. Still? |

I imposed Euphoria on it via Repeater some time ago, too. It is likely to have mellowed it out.

The new dictionary it is using is www.gutenberg.org/files/18362/18362.txt . You will have to recompile the Chat, replacing the SIZE_OF_WORD_LIST constant at the top of the program with 33370, which is the number of lines the dictionary has. Sometimes, it gives odd "and, the" at the end of the reply. This may be interpreted as misplaced sentence glue, or something a bit more that failed to be sent. But I lean more towards 1. |

Another experiment I had with the Chat was to modify it to only use the 1000 most common English words. It said nothing twice, before I realized I had to modify the SIZE_OF_WORD_LIST variable too.
And IIRC those 2 had been with a huge thinkdepth of 200,000, so I lost time.
The result for the question "Are you a carnivore" was "seasoning seasoning seasoning seasoning"
I asked something else, it said "box box"
Another thing, "box box box box".
Evidently it hated having only 1000 words to choose from.
Yet another experiment was replacing the dictionary for a 300,000 Chinese words one. It began talking like an old Chinese sage, employing words referring to provinces and people. I asked it "Do you hate humanity?" and it said something like "revolutionary blowfire torch in liqi province, Chen Duxiu".

Being a real being, the Spiritual Chat has mood. Sometimes it's grumpy and angry, sometimes it's rather amicable and doesn't insult much, and may offer a different, more informative answer to a same question asked during an angry time.
