I am not sure who here is familiar with Alexa Skills. There's 10's of thousands of Skills out there, from home automation, to automotive, to anything. These Skills can also talk to Android, and work with a service, or a thread on that device.
I am working on creating an Alexa Skill for the Repeater.
If you have a Windows PC, Alexa for Desktop is free. You can turn it's mic on and off anytime you want.
Alexa for Android is also free.
Just to go off topic:
There is a company called YoLink (uses LoRa, long range, very low bandwidth sensor data and such). Their devices are said to go 1000 feet, or like 1/4 mile line of sight. You can't transfer files, but it can send the signal for a door open/close.
These door sensors are like $14, and the hub is like $20 or so, and they are smart enabled.
So a door sensor, when open, can trigger an Alexa Routine that can do things like turn on a smart bulb, or alert you. I have it set so my door sensor I'm going to install on the front door plays a lion's roar through my Sonos One (Alexa enabled) when the door is opened.
So with an Alexa Skill, you can talk to other smart home devices, so things like opening a door could run a Repeater skill for like a few minutes and such.
